Conservation club unveiled

Worldwide Fund for Nature (WWF) yesterday unveiled a programme that will mobilize companies in the region to conserve the environment.

Through the Eastern Africa Corporate Club, member companies will now be actively involved in conserving nature.

According to WWF Eastern Africa regional representative, Dr. Sam Kanyabiwa, the programme is meant to sensitize companies on conservation. He said this, is key to achieving sustainable development.

He said Africa now faces a bigger challenge since the programme is the first of its kind in the region.

Consequently he urged the public to join in the conservation programme.

Kanyabiwa was speaking during the signing of five companies as members of the club.

The signatories included Mr. Didier Tressarieu of Bamburi Cement Limited, Mr. Roger Kacou of Hotel Intercontinental, Mr. Haja Rajaonarivo, Nestle foods Limited, Mr. Koome Mwambia, Ogilvy PR wolrd-wide and Les Baillie who represented Mr. Michael Joseph of Safaricom.
