Companies sign up for conservation
Six leading corporate organizations yesterday pledged to
support environmental conservation programmes.
Bamburi Cement, Hotel Inter-Continental, Safaricom, Coca-Cola,
Nestle Foods, and Ogilvy Public Relations, will actively participate
in nature conservation projects in Kenya and the Eastern African
region.
The companies would work with the Worldwide Fund for Nature
(WWF). They nominated renowned industrialist, Dr. Manu Chandaria,
as the Eastern Africa Corporate Club Goodwill Ambassador.
His role would be to carry a message of conservation among
members and lead by example in his organization.
Each of the member organizations would work on a specific
project under the auspices of the WWF Eastern Africa Regional
Representative, Dr. Sam Kanyabiwa, said the strategic partnership
would provide a platform in addressing nature conservation
projects within the region.
He said similar partnerships had been successful in Europe,
Asia and the Middle East.
